Hello, lovelies!
For those of you who don’t know, I am working on my doctorate degree. I am going the non-traditional route and completing my degree online. Initially, I had my reservations about getting my degree online because of the assumption that online learning is easier and is not credible. I did a lot of research and talked to professors in my master’s program who completed their PhDs online.
I was told that online learning can be very challenging and demanding compared to going to a traditional brick and mortar campus. I must say that my coursework is demanding and requires a lot time managment. However, getting a PhD is not suppose to be easy but it is doable. I took my time to find a program that interest me and would help with my career goals. I wanted to do Psychology but my heart was not settled on being a psychologist. So, I did more research and chose to purse my doctorate in Human Services with a specialization in Family Studies and Intervention Strategies. FYI, if you decide to pursue a doctorate do something that you are passionate about or truly enjoy doing, because the process is expensive, time consuming, and ultimately an investment in your career.
I have truly enjoyed this journey so far. The one thing that sold me in to selecting my program and university is that the school has a mission to impact social change throughout the world in various capacities. I’m all about equality and equity for every person. I love seeing people be empowered and my goal is help others become empowered.
So, I’ll be sharing this process along the way. Here’s a picture of me, some the ladies in my program, and one of our professors (blue shirt) back in May for one of our Residencies.
I went to the Georgia Aquarium during one of my breaks at my residency in at Atlanta.
Thanks for reading!
Brandi
