I bought this hair chalk around the holidays and I finally tried it out a few weeks ago. It’s made by Splat and the color is Sugar Plum. I bought it from Walmart for right under $5. I have been debating on coloring my hair. So, I decided to try hair chalk since it’s temporary. I saw other women who had success with coloring their natural hair with chalk, but not this particular brand. However, my experience did not work out so well. The chalk was very powdery and messy. It did not standout on my dark hair. It also stained my clothes. I think it may work better on lighter hair colors and non-kinky hair. I would not recommend this product based on the mess it created everywhere…counter top, face, clothes, furniture, car seat. I’m glad I was able to wash the color out of my clothes. If anyone has other suggestions for temporary hair color feel free let me know.
This is the chalk and sponge applicator. The chalk looks like eye shadow.
I just had to share my favorite five gowns I seen at the 46th NAACP Image Awards on Friday February 6th. I will list my favorite look and work my way down.
1. Tracee Ellis Ross
I am soooo loving Tracee’s gown and her total look. I love the lace detail because it’s soft and feminine. It was curve hugging with a plunging neckline. She was gorgeous. I love to see women embrace their curves. The gown flowed when she walked. You had to see it in action. Her natural curls were beautiful and her makeup was simple. Tracee is my favorite fashion inspiration. By the way, she won best comedic actress for her role in one of my newest favorite television shows Blackish.
2. Angela Bassett
When Ms. Bassett walked on the stage, she was welcomed with a standing ovation. She looked so regal, confident, and ageless. She was stunning. She makes me look forward to being 56 years old. Angela’s gown and hair was flawless. Cheers to being fabulous over 50!
3. Teyonah Parris
I saw this look on the red carpet and saw how beautiful it was. I love how the neutral color, lace, embellishments create a soft, feminine look. I love the form fit of the gown with the sheer skirt. I like that Teyonah embraces her kinky natural hair when she’s on the red carpet.
4. Gabrielle Union
Gabby also wore a neutral gown with the back out. This look is different from what I normally see Ms. Union usually wear, but I like it.
Honorable Mention: Kerry Washington
I really like Kerry Washington because she’s a natural beauty. Her style is very classy and sleek. I love this red lace gown Kerry wore. It was simple yet beautiful.
I am sharing my newest protective style. For those who do not know what a protective style, it is a hair style that protects your natural hair from weather, wear and tear. I’m protecting my natural hair from this winter weather and to give my hair a break. This particular style is called crochet braid. Technically, the hair you see is not braids. I usually do some variation of crochet braids…I just use different types of hair. I just wanted to share. Talk to you soon!
What’s up beautiful people!
I wanted to show how you can have different outfits just by making one change. I simply changed my outerwear. The first look has a cardigan and the second has a blazer. This is an easy way to switch up your wardrobe…especially if you’re on a budget. This is also great if you’re on the go. You may need to wear a blazer for work or business, and if you go out later to run errands or somewhere casual, just swap out your outerwear. Talk to you soon!
Blazer: Thrift $3
Shirt: Dots $4
Skirt: Rainbows $5
Booties: Shoe Show $15
Hi Beautiful people,
I ran across some really gorgeous art of African-American women rocking their natural hair. I love the colors and fashion. I found out where these pic can be bought http://www.nikisgroove.com. You can follow Niki on instagram as well. I just wanted to share some that I saw on instagram. FYI: the last pic with the t-shirt is not Niki’s.
Disclaimer: I do not own these pictures. I am just sharing them.
