Summer is definitely here and I love wearing things that reflect the season. I got this dress last summer for vacation from Amazon.com. This dress makes me feel like an island girl even though I’m thousands of miles away.
I styled this look with pink wooden diamond-shaped earrings and gold shimmer sandals. I wore a black midi dress under my chiffon dress because it is sheer. I styled my hair in a puff ponytail and I wore pink lipstick. I like to keep it simple.

For those of you who don’t know, I am working on my doctorate degree. I am going the non-traditional route and completing my degree online. Initially, I had my reservations about getting my degree online because of the assumption that online learning is easier and is not credible. I did a lot of research and talked to professors in my master’s program who completed their PhDs online.
I was told that online learning can be very challenging and demanding compared to going to a traditional brick and mortar campus. I must say that my coursework is demanding and requires a lot time managment. However, getting a PhD is not suppose to be easy but it is doable. I took my time to find a program that interest me and would help with my career goals. I wanted to do Psychology but my heart was not settled on being a psychologist. So, I did more research and chose to purse my doctorate in Human Services with a specialization in Family Studies and Intervention Strategies. FYI, if you decide to pursue a doctorate do something that you are passionate about or truly enjoy doing, because the process is expensive, time consuming, and ultimately an investment in your career.
I have truly enjoyed this journey so far. The one thing that sold me in to selecting my program and university is that the school has a mission to impact social change throughout the world in various capacities. I’m all about equality and equity for every person. I love seeing people be empowered and my goal is help others become empowered.
So, I’ll be sharing this process along the way. Here’s a picture of me, some the ladies in my program, and one of our professors (blue shirt) back in May for one of our Residencies.
I went to the Georgia Aquarium during one of my breaks at my residency in at Atlanta.

What’s up, people?
I am in the mood for blue and it’s not the sad kind of blue. I’m longing for the calm and tranquility of the deep blue sea! I went to my closet and created this look with the deep blue sea in mind. I haven’t worn tanks in about two years because of my weight gain. I truly felt uncomfortable with exposing my arms, but I made the decision this summer to let go and let flow.
Here’s the details of my outfit:
My seafoam green tank, blue pants, and blue shoes are all from Rainbow (Here’s the Website).
My head wrap is a scarf I got from JC Penney.
My necklace is from Wal-Mart.
My earrings are from a consignment shop.
My sunglasses from from my boutique.
I absolutely adore this look. I feel so fly and so chic! What do you think?

What’s up, beautiful people!
I did some electronic digging and realized that I did not share this look. I love sunflowers and I’m pretty fond of sequins. This is a budget friendly outfit. I got this peplum sunflower dress from from Rainbow from the clearance rack for $3. I have shopped at Rainbow for years because they have have pretty good clearance selection for regular and plus sizes.
I got this sequin case from a thrift store a few years ago. It was about $4. I use this often as a clutch and I use it for business purposes to hold documents and my tablet.
