Closet Chic: Merging Masculine and Feminine Elements in Fashion

Closet Chic, Style & Beauty

Happy Sunday!

On Saturday,  I chose this look to run errands and go out.  Instead of wearing a flirty dress for this warm Tennessee weather. I chose a look that merged masculine and feminine elements.  I wore a buttoned down men’s shirt I got from an estate sale for $1 and some old jeans that I have.

I like men’s button down shirts because of the structure and they can be easily converted to women’s wear.  You tie the bottom of the shirt into a knot.  Wearing high-waisted jeans or a skirt can make the shirt feminine.

I rolled my jeans up and my sleeves some to soften my outfit.  I wore brown heeled lace up sandals and ($19.99, Just Fab) and a studded brown handbag ($7, Goodwill). I wore red lipstick and of course big curly hair (a DIY wig I recently made).  I made sure I wore a smile! I felt really fabulous and sexy without having “dress up”.

Closet Chic Sisters: Thrift With a Twist

Closet Chic

Hey everyone!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any personal styles from my closet.  It’s been even longer since I did a style post with my sister.  On Sunday, Jessica and I wore some thrifted garments mixed with non-thrifted garments.

Here are Jessica’s thrifted pieces:
A thrifted skirt from an estate sale  $1.00
earrings were bought from a consignment shop $2

Jessica’s skirt was the statement garment and she accessorized to complement her skirt.  I added the the belt to finish the look.image

I adore color and yellow is one of my favorite colors.  I chose to pair my dress with button down shirt for a bold summer look.  I kept my accessories simple with gold and pearls.  I chose my leopard prints wedges to add some flair since my dress and shirt are solid colors.

My thrifted piece:
Dress from Goodwill $6

Closet Chic: Bohemian Flair

Hello lovelies!

wpid-1431040780659.jpgI wanted to post this look on yesterday, and didn’t get a chance to finish the post.  I love the warm weather months because I can channel my bohemian style.  I like wearing flowing garments and earth tones.  I have always been into different prints.  I would have to say floral prints are starting be my favorite prints. I found this sheer floral print kimono cardigan (Burkes Outlet, $12.99) last weekend and I’ve worn it a few times already.  I chose a white t-shirt and dark turquoise skinny jeans to go with this look.  It’s very simple.  I wore simple white crystal studs and a gold flower ring (both of the jewelry pieces are from Old Navy for $1.99 each).  I also wore a chained statement necklace.

Hello everyone!

On last Thursday, I was apart of a production for the school where I sub at.  It was so fun to sing and dance for the kiddos.  I had to share my outfit.  I had to have big hair and bright colors.

image

I wore my smile graphics tee with a tulle skirt that I made a while back.  I wore some sneakers with neon shoelaces.  I made the wig that I wore.

Jessica also rocked her tulle skirt that she made a while back. She was channeling a little bit of disco.

I created this trendy Spring look using a cute t-shirt. I chose yellow jeans and accessories that complemented the jeans.  Also,  I  added the faux leather jacket and boots to bring a little edge to the look.  I chose stud earrings to balance the statement necklace. I would totally rock this look for a day-to-day look or for the weekend if I don’t want to get super dressy but want to look good.

***By the way, the app I use to create my looks are My Dressing.  You can use it to organize your own closet.

Stay chic,
