February has come and gone, and I have been away making significant moves. Even though a new month has just begun, I couldn’t forget to share my February. February is a fun month for me anyway because It’s Black History Month and I love learning about my history. Speaking of history, I just made a major milestone. I completed the last course of my doctorate program, and now I’m working on my dissertation which means I’m closer to being a doctor. I’m so excited to begin my research study which encompasses me working with African American women. The cool thing about this process is that my sister is also working on her doctorate as well.
I also got a chance to see the Black Panther movie with my family, and it was fantastic. I am a fan of the Marvel Universe franchise, so I’ve seen all of the films and shows prior to Black Panther. If you don’t follow Marvel Universe, each movie and show gives a different energy and experience. So, I try not to compare each project. This movie is in my top three favorite Marvel movies (the other two are The Avengers and Captain: America The First Avenger). This movie was so empowering and provided so many messages. I love how the women exuded feminity, strength, and intelligence.
I’ve indulged in a PBS docu-series via Amazon Prime called Finding Your Roots which delves into the lives of celebrities of various racial and ethnic backgrounds. This show is so fascinating. I totally recommend this show.

Hello, everyone! I have been making a more conscious effort of eating right. I have been eating to stay healthy and take care of my body. It has been a long while since I have wrote about my healthy living. Last April, I wrote a post about transitioning to a vegetarian lifestyle. I am officially vegetarian. To be honest, I wish I would have done it sooner.
I have been pretty diligent about selecting health options even if I go out eat. I enjoy grocery shopping especially since the weather is warmer. There are a lot of options for fresh produce. I wanted to share what I’ve been buying. I also buy some organic foods as well when I can. Here are some of the foods that I have eating. I also eat veggies burgers and veggie sausage patties.

I wanted to update those of you have been following my vegetarian journey. I made a post almost two months ago about returning back to eating vegetarian for various reason. Primarily for the discipline and the health benefits. I would definitely have to say that transitioning seemed easier the last time around because I took my time eliminating meat out of my diet and I also ate more gluten and dairy last time.
This time around I have been doing a lot more research about what is beneficial for my specific health needs. I also suffered from severe acne when I finally removed meat out of my diet last time. This actually freaked me out because it was pretty awful. I found out that going vegan and vegetarian can cause serious acne issues. So, I am taking my time in my transition into this lifestyle. So, that my body can adjust to the changes.
Is the meat gone? No, almost. I transitioned last time for about two to three months eliminating meat. I am almost at the two month mark. I don’t buy or prepare meat in my home ever since the last time I went vegetarian. I cook and prepare only vegetarian friendly meals. I may have some fish and lean meat if I go out to eat on occasions. I have found only a few take-out and dine-in dishes that are vegetarian and gluten-free friendly where I live. It has been trial and error. But all in all, I am making great progress.
I haven’t noticed any significant weight loss or anything like that. I have to say that I don’t feel as bloated. I feel better and my cholesterol and blood pressure are excellent. I am shooting to be totally meat-free by May 1. My initial plan was to stop cold turkey, but I am pacing myself and not pressuring myself to become vegetarian. I’m allowing myself to adapt to it so that it becomes my way of living. I have a goal and it’s becoming a reality.
