Closet Chic: Merging Masculine and Feminine Elements in Fashion

image

Happy Sunday!

On Saturday,  I chose this look to run errands and go out.  Instead of wearing a flirty dress for this warm Tennessee weather. I chose a look that merged masculine and feminine elements.  I wore a buttoned down men’s shirt I got from an estate sale for $1 and some old jeans that I have.

I like men’s button down shirts because of the structure and they can be easily converted to women’s wear.  You tie the bottom of the shirt into a knot.  Wearing high-waisted jeans or a skirt can make the shirt feminine.

I rolled my jeans up and my sleeves some to soften my outfit.  I wore brown heeled lace up sandals and ($19.99, Just Fab) and a studded brown handbag ($7, Goodwill). I wore red lipstick and of course big curly hair (a DIY wig I recently made).  I made sure I wore a smile! I felt really fabulous and sexy without having “dress up”.

The first two dresses that I am sharing are from Rue 107 (rue107.com).   This company caters to women with curves and smaller sizes.

Closet Chic: Swimwear For Women With Curves

Hey, everyone!  I realize that summertime will be coming to an end in a matter of weeks.  So, that means two things.  1) Sales on summer clothes and 2) Enjoying summertime activities.  So, I have been on a quest to find swimwear for myself.  I have been looking for swimwear that is figure flattering and sexy.  I have doing a lot of searching for swimwear for women with curves, and to my surprise there are some great online store that sale fabulously designed swimwear for women with fuller, curvier physiques.  It is not too late to get your sexy on for the beach, pool parties, and other summertime festivities.   So, this post is for the ladies who have been on the fence about stepping and embracing your curves.  You may want to lose weight or don’t feel that you will look sexy.    I have been trying to find the perfect two piece high-waist swimsuit and I think I have found a few places to look.  High-waist swimsuit are big this summer.  This a great alternative to the two-piece bikini.  You have more coverage on your belly area.   You can be modest yet sexy! I have done some research for you;-)

So, let’s get started with Swimsuits for All. At the beginning of this summer, I purchase a really cute one piece swimsuit from this company.  Their sizes range from 8 to 34.  The swimwear on this site has so much variety and this company sales swimwear exclusively.  You can go conservative to super sexy.  If you sign up for their e-mail listing (which is free)  you will be sent promotions and discounts.  I purchased my swimsuit at an already discounted price $29.98 (originally $89) and with the additional promotion (free shipping included) $19.49.  I created a collage of a few pieces from this site.

This is the swimsuit that I purchased.

I  accidentally discovered Rue 107 New York over the weekend.   I absolutely love the bold, edgy, feminine clothing from this store. The sizes range from X-Small to 3X.   In addition to a variety clothing options and accessories, this store has swimwear.  The prices of the swimwear range from $20-100.  The two-piece swim suits are sold separately which I think is cool if you want to mix and match.

The last store I want to share is Unique Vintage.  The name says it all.  This store sales retro and vintage style pieces for various occasions.  The swimwear is gorgeous especially if you want to channel  the 1950’s, Marilyn Monroe-ish style.  I am contemplating on getting the red with white polka dot set (pictured below, $68).  The sizes for the swimwear go up to a size 18.

I hope this was helpful.  This a great time to catch really great sales on swimwear before the summer is gone.  Enjoy this summer and enjoy your curves;-)
