February has come and gone, and I have been away making significant moves. Even though a new month has just begun, I couldn’t forget to share my February. February is a fun month for me anyway because It’s Black History Month and I love learning about my history. Speaking of history, I just made a major milestone. I completed the last course of my doctorate program, and now I’m working on my dissertation which means I’m closer to being a doctor. I’m so excited to begin my research study which encompasses me working with African American women. The cool thing about this process is that my sister is also working on her doctorate as well.
I also got a chance to see the Black Panther movie with my family, and it was fantastic. I am a fan of the Marvel Universe franchise, so I’ve seen all of the films and shows prior to Black Panther. If you don’t follow Marvel Universe, each movie and show gives a different energy and experience. So, I try not to compare each project. This movie is in my top three favorite Marvel movies (the other two are The Avengers and Captain: America The First Avenger). This movie was so empowering and provided so many messages. I love how the women exuded feminity, strength, and intelligence.
I’ve indulged in a PBS docu-series via Amazon Prime called Finding Your Roots which delves into the lives of celebrities of various racial and ethnic backgrounds. This show is so fascinating. I totally recommend this show.
I look forward to sharing more content with. Talk to you soon!
I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted on my blog, but I’m excited to share a post. Life has been pretty full which means that I must focus on the all that is good and positive in order to stay balanced and inspired. I wore my “Good Vibes Only” tee as a reminder to surround myself with good things and people as much as possible.
I wore this outfit Sunday and I enjoyed putting this look together. I love graphic tees and prints and made a really cool, chic look. I rolled my sleeves up and tied a little knot and threw on my favorite leopard print skirt.
I wore some sandal and added my pink handbag and earrings.
FYI my graphic tee is from Rue 21 (men’s department which has better graphic tees from personal observation).
It feels so good to share this post with you! Feel free to let me know what you think!
Talk to you soon! I can’t wait to share my vacation to California with you too!
It has been a while since I’ve posted anything on the blog. I’ve been getting adjusted to my new job, being in school, and enjoying this holiday season. I hope this holiday season has been enjoyable for you so far. I’ve been watching a lot of Netflix Christmas and holiday movies. This time of the year really brings out the kid in me.
I am super excited about sharing my outfit from yesterday.
My turtleneck is from Cato Fashion. I love the mesh detail on the sleeves. I’m rocking it with my favorite go-to leopard print skirt from Rainbow.
My necklace is from Walmart ($2.00) and my ring is from Cato ($1.99). My handbag is from JustFab.com which I have had for a couple of years now.
I hope your week is productive and filled with holiday cheer!
If you’re new to my blog or have been rolling with me from day one, fashion is my thing. I love the artistry and creative expression of fashion. I like being able to express myself through what I wear. Fashion is very cathartic.
However, I run into a lot of people who admire fashion but avoid allowing themselves the experience of feeling fantastic. Some feel that they don’t have the right body or are too old to feel great in what they are wearing. Some women don’t want to spend tons of money on clothes and others focus a majority of their time on their families.
I would like to encourage you to try something different with your style. If you have more of a monotone colored wardrobe add an element of color that you wouldn’t typically use. If you’re not at a place where you cannot put money into your wardrobe, you can be creative in seeing how you can tweak what you already have by altering them. You could also have a clothing swap party with some friends and trade garments. YouTube has some great DIY projects for t-shirts and making clothes for those who are limited in our sewing abilities.
The beauty of having your style is that it’s yours. You don’t have to follow trends or shop high-end designer brands to look good and feel good. Change your mind about fashion and have fun with it.

Back in February, I got a random email from WordPress about checking out a resource called Blogging University. I am glad that I read it and didn’t delete it. Blogging U. has several classes that bloggers can take to enhance your blogging experience. I took the Photo 101 course and the Commenting Bootcamp. What happens is once you sign up for a course you get email reminders of what to do. It’s April already and I’m just getting started with my March challenges. Here is the link to Blogging U. if you’re interested.
So today, I will be posting Day One of Photo 101 titled “Home”. I chose to these two pictures. The first picture is a corner in my living room. For those of you who follow me, you know I love color. Over the last holiday, I painted my living room blue and yellow. At home, I let the free-spirited part of me out. The second picture is part of the fence to my backyard.
As you can see, I literally live in color. I would love to know what home means to you!
I look forward to sharing more photos with you all!
